Canopy Road Café
Overview
As a marketing director and designer for Leisure Studies Hospitality Group in Florida, I recognized a need for a modern and more usable website for the group's major brand, Canopy Road Café.
As a rapidly growing brand, I focused on creating a user-friendly and engaging marketing site that accomplished three main goals:
- Directed users to primary functions of the site
- Integrated third party functions necessary to modern restaurant business, including online ordering
- Was built upon an updated design system

Process
Step 1 in creating a new website for this brand was to determine the technology I would use. As a designer first, I wanted a solution that allowed me a fully customizable and scalable website without having to code every piece of it. My research led me to Webflow.
From there, I taught myself how to use the tool to create and launch a new website.
Refining the concept
Once the technology stack was sorted, I focused on design. I spoke to customers in the restaurant to learn about any prior issues they had with the website. I worked directly with restaurant employees to understand the technology required to best support them in taking online orders and getting common questions answered by the site to save them some time.
These sessions were informal, but effective. I was on the ground learning about how the website was used, and how it could be better.
The design was highly iterative, working in Figma first and then moving the near-final iterations to the site build. The process also included creating a brand new library of food photography and revamping the brand, which were all part of my role on this project.
Learnings & Next Steps
About 6 months since the initial idea, we had a completely revamped website that was designed to better suit our customers. The site continues to have thousands of daily users, and has expanded to support over 12 restaurant locations in the past few years since launch.
